Meet the Doctor

D. Scott Hume, DDS, FAGD, FADI

Dr. Scott Hume was born in San Diego and raised in the Bloomington-Normal area.  He attended Epiphany Grade School, Normal Community High School, and Illinois Wesleyan University.  He continued his education at Loyola University School of Dentistry where he graduated Cum Laude.  Following graduation, Dr. Hume returned to Bloomington-Normal, joining his father, David J. Hume in dental practice.  Together they converted an older home on Main Street into a modern dental practice with the warmth and comfort of a historic residence.

Dr. Hume has a conservative approach to dental care with an emphasis on prevention of dental problems and minimally invasive treatments.  He has always been heavily involved in continuing education and loves learning about new techniques or materials that may benefit his patients.

Dr. Hume is a member of the American Dental Association and the Illinois State Dental Society.  He is past president of the McLean County Dental Society as well as the Central Illinois Academy of General Dentistry.  He holds fellowship in both the Academy of Dental International and the Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. Hume currently serves on the McLean County Board of Health.

Dr. Scott and his wife, Barbara, have four adult children and one grandchild.  Outside the office he enjoys many activities.  He has cycled RAGBRAI, climbed to the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro, and run the Boston Marathon.  He enjoys reading, watching old movies and cold-working glass.
